There was a man who once said... "I have a dream".
Well Chris and Terri of Washington D.C. also had a dream and together they brought
a whole new meaning to making dreams come true....

 |
It all started off with a
thought, a concept, an idea. Add in a lot of talk,
creating hope, determination, and motivation. A team is born
ready to take action. Action begins by spreading the
word. Letters written, phone calls made, designs drawn. Soon
monies are granted toward the project. A first step
toward the reality of a concrete skate park in Washington D.C.
The D.C. Parks and Recreation become involved to help find a
location. X marks the spot and the project is ready to
begin construction. Volunteers are gathered to drive
through a Winter and Spring season on an extremely tight
schedule. Several other pitfalls were encountered along
the way that almost destroyed the reality of the Green Skate
Laboratory. Fighting back with the original hope,
determination, and motivation that initially brought the
project together, the crew was able to keep the dream alive.
Now the city of Washington D.C. has a skate park they can be
very proud of thanks to the work of several determined skaters
who volunteered their time, skills, and effort toward the
cause. |
