| "The Ocean Bowl
Skate Park is the oldest operating municipal skate park in the
United States." The park opened in 1976 after the city
of Ocean City, MD had banned skating in the streets. Due
to the popular demand of skateboarding at that time many
parents and skaters sought the city council to provide a place
for people to skate. Thirty years later that place still
stands as a refuge for the skaters of Ocean City whose streets
still remain forbidden to skateboarding. In tribute to
keeping true to the wishes of those who fought for the
original park in 1976, the Mayor called out all the Ocean City
skaters to help celebrate thirty years of Ocean Bowl history.
And the skaters came, from the new and upcoming Ocean Bowl
rippers to the legendary Ocean Bowl skaters who had been there
back in the day fighting for a park. The skaters threw
down all day as bands threw out live tunes in thanks and honor
for keeping this sacred spot for Ocean City skaters alive.

The Ocean City mayor himself came out
and delivered a speech recognizing the Ocean Bowl and it's legends
who have skated and contributed to the park since day one.

After the commemorative Ocean Bowl 30th
Anniversary all day skate session, we walked over to the pool
bar and celebrated, breaking in their pool with a first time
taste of urethane. |
 |

From there this wild and celebrating
group of skaters ended up at the Broken Oar bar where NagChaumpa
once again played in tribute to the park. It got crazy in
there with the bar declaring "it never gets that bad, not even on
bike week."

The next morning the
surf was up, as well as a few other surprises. |
