So as the song goes.... The Wicked Wahines love to fly.  For their 5th event they flew out for a weeks stay in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  With the recent addition of the Corolla and Currituck Skateparks, the Outter banks hosts more places and things to skate than anywhere else on the East Coast.

Kronik Energy sponsored the event and provided all participants with a place to stay for the week at what turned out to be the Glitter Mansion.  The Glitter Mansion is the infamous Duck, NC rental home, rented out by many skaters for its fully serviced peanut shaped pool in the backyard.

With a backyard pool of their own, along with all the skate treasures of the OBX, the Wahines had their hands full in plenty of skating, as well as, enjoying the scenic beauty and localism of the Outter Banks of North Carolina.

The event attracted over 20 female, ripping skaters coming from a diversity of places: California, Ohio, Indiana, Florida, Arizona, Oregon, Maryland, Virginia, Maine, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and North Carolina to name a few.

The event began with the D-Cup contest.  Two days, two bowls in a jam style format.

DAY 1: Maple Skatepark, Currituck, NC.  Built by Grindline, the park features a duel section with an 11ft vert keyhole with pool coping and a large combi bowl, super smooth concrete finish, with plenty of hips, an oververt pocket, loveseat, and door all topped with a combination of steel pipe, pool coping, and brick.

The Currituck contest got off to a bit of a slow start.  The night before the contest there was a very heavy rain storm that washed quite a bit of sand into the park.

Then there was a bit of an issue finding a generator and cable for the P.A.  At the last moment it all seemed to come together perfectly.  With the extra practice time combined with the fire of the heats, the Wahines amazingly hit the milestones they aim so high for.  Late in the afternoon the Currituck park spun to life as these hard charged women of all ages and styles came together to throw it all down.

That night a contest after party was held at The Pit.  After several long hours of skating in the sun the Wahines once again came together to celebrate an amazing contest and day to remember.  All night long the Wahines partied and danced to the tunes of The Stuntdoubles, Cutback, Lost Tribe, and NagChaumpa.
