The Black Pearl Skatepark, the second largest skatepark in the world,
is 62,000 square feet of pure concrete. The park is
owned and operated by Mike Bell, a Grand Cayman resident who "wanted
to offer a positive alternative for entertainment to kids and
their parents". The
park opened in the spring of 2005.

The Black Pearl Skatepark has just about everything you want in a
skatepark, minus a vert ramp, which I hear is in the
future plans of the park. The park contains expert,
intermediate, and beginner sections in both flow and street.
The entire park runs together allowing skaters to skate the
entire park as one or choose to session individual sections.
There are tons of roundwall with hips, pockets, and
thumbs here and there too. There are stairs,
quarter pipes, ledges, rails, ramps, fun boxes, and more.
The park features a capsule, pool with two sets of stairs and a deathbox, a snakerun, lots of vert, and an over-vert section.

The park was originally designed and
built by Site Design, however:
"The original plans that
Site designed where thrown out and disregarded with in the
first month and a half on the job. The crew did not work for
site we worked for Mike Bell the developer that funded the
park. The park was designed on the spot as it was built. Here
are a list of the guys that deserve the credit. -Mike

[weyv-lok-surf-muh-sheen]
–noun
1. A self contained standing wave generated by a
continuous 16,000 gallon per minute flow of water. |
The Waveloch Surf Machine is the only
one of its kind. There are only two other man made standing
waves in the world. Grand Cayman's Wavelock is the only one
that can generate waves up to 11 feet in height. The
Wavelock gives the rider up to 1,280 square feet of riding
surface. The machine has four settings. Between the
settings the water fluctuates from 10,000 gallons per minute to
150,000 gallons per minute controlling the height of the wave.

The Wavelock Surf Machine is a part of
the Black Pearl Skate and Surf park owned and operated by Mike
Bell. The Wavelock Surf Machine is located adjacent to the
skatepark.

In
addition to an excellent grade-A skatepark with an extra bonus
standing wave machine next door, the Grand Cayman Island offers
much beauty, some of the worlds best snorkling and diving, friends
all over, and lots of rum. Its a very warm and relaxing
place to be.

Escape to the Grand Cayman
Islands, visit the Black Pearl Skate and Surf, and you won't
forget it.
