Blood, Sweat, and Smiles.  The first chapter of the Checkers Skateboarding Championship was held on a hot, humid summer weekend at Charles County Skatepark, WhitePlains, MD.  Saturday July 10th held classes 10 and under, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16.  Sunday July 11th held classes Classes 17-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40+, Women and Longboard.  NagChaumpa was there July 11th taking part in and capturing the amazing display of action.  Despite the heat there was a huge barrage of energy amongst all skaters hanging out with friends, laying down their best runs, having fun, and winning stuff!  The skaters like the heat of the day were on fire!  Check out the pics!  Results are posted at www.checkersseries.com

Early morning during the warm-up session, Scott Tupper from Bowie, MD, ruptured his elbow hanging up on a bowl to bowl transfer.  With his division being first up he did not have much time to ice the injury.  He wraps it in rags, throws his elbow pads on, and places First in bowl 20-29.  This kid is astonishing and an inspiration to all that he skates with!
